Trick #1: The Tape-Shim Reveal

Cabinet Fit & Finish

When a face frame opening is a hair tight, add a strip of blue tape along the drawer side and plane until it slides like butter. Remove the tape and your reveal is dead-even without over-thinning the part.

Trick #2: Oak Grain Alignment

Book-matching Panels

For white oak doors, rip your panel stock sequentially and keep orientation marks chalked. Glue up in order so rays and fleck flow across both doors—your eye reads it as one quiet panel.

Trick #3: Sneaking Up on Square

Install Day

Use a temporary ledger screwed level on the wall. Hang uppers to the ledger, clamp face frames flush, and only then drive your screws. Gravity stops fighting you and everything lands square the first time.
